February Meeting – Commercial Beekeeping with Wes Stein

We are happy to announce that we will have Wes Stein from Stein's Honey stopping by for our February meeting to talk about what it's like to be a commercial beekeeper.

Here's a little background about Stein's honey:

Stein’s honey was established in 1998 by Bill Stein who purchased two hives to pollinate their family’s apple trees. After slowly growing over the next few years, we realized there was a need for local honey that was not being met. This is when we went from being a small hobby to a part time job expanding to 400-500 hives. We then took on local pollination contracts for apples and cherries. While both Bill and his middle son, Wes, managed the hives they also worked full time in the construction industry.

In 2013, Bill decided to retire as a foreman and focus solely on the bees. In 2019, we made the decision…
